Dentures, Bridges and Implants

Dr. Schleiffarth is very highly experienced in providing natural-looking, comfortable dentures. Dr. Schleiffarth has fashioned partial and full dentures for many patients who have fallen, have been in auto or sports accidents, or lost teeth in other ways. Proper tooth replacement is important for aesthetics, function, and overall oral health. Partial dentures and tooth replacement will prevent the shifting of other teeth which can lead to unsightly spaces, gum problems, food traps and root decay.

denture

An “immediate denture” is a complete denture or partial denture inserted on the same day, immediately following the removal of natural teeth. There are several advantages of an immediate denture. The most important factor is that you will never need to appear in public without teeth. It is also easier to duplicate the shape, color and arrangement of your natural teeth when some are still in your mouth. When an immediate denture is inserted at the time of extraction, it will act as a “band-aid” to protect the tissues. An immediate denture will also allow you to establish your speech patterns, and you will not have to learn to speak without a denture in place and then later relearn to speak with a new denture. An immediate denture will also allow you to chew more easily than without any teeth. Dr. Schleiffarth will discuss the pros and cons of an immediate denture versus a new traditional denture, and help you make the best decision.

tooth bridge

Fixed bridges (permanent bridges) are made like crowns or caps. They cover two prepared teeth, acting as anchors on each side of the space. The false teeth are attached to the anchors. Now the bridge is cemented to place over the two anchors. This is often the best possible option to replace teeth, looking and feeling like real teeth. Fixed bridges can be anchored on implants as well. A single missing tooth or several missing teeth can be made on implants, which are also permanent.
